I want to turn my sandwich/takeaway into a cafe bar?

How do i go about this and what will it cost? I want to sell beer and wine, we are in farnworth, Bolton.

Costs depend on whether you want to redecorate and if you are going to sell beers etc you might need to have toilets, fire exits etc.

Best idea is to call the Council, I think yours would be Bolton www.bolton.gov.uk ask to speak to Licensing and ask if you can go see them for advise. Usually they are willing to help as they get less problems if people do it right the first time round.

Then you need to get Licences to sell Alcohol:

You need two licences.

1st Licence from the local Council is a premises licence, this allows the premises to be licenced to sell alcoholic drinks. Go to your local Council web site, look under licensing and you can down load the forms from there.

You then have to either get a Personal licence to be able to serve the drinks or get somebody to run the place who has a Personal licence.

Some can be free though, you then take a test and if you pass, it is quite easy, you apply again to get a Personal licence.

Also ask the Council if it knows where you can do the training.
