Coffee Brewer
Does it use more energy to have the brewer keep the coffee warm in the pot or to microwave it cup by cup?
Coffee is way better when it’s fresh to me, but after a little while it doesn’t taste any different to me with these two ways of heating… so which uses less energy?
I think I’d be heating up two cups (mugs of coffee so ~9oz) in the micro, if that helps.
Added 3/17: Still looking for the answer to this question. There haven’t been any answer so far that provide evidence by way of numbers or a website link, and at the same time takes into account actual heat dissipation levels, etc.
Still looking for the answer but want to add my own comment — Since I need to buy a new coffee pot anyway, I’m thinking of switching to one that and pours into a thermos instead of one with a burner. This would definitely use the least energy, but I haven’t found one that uses a glass vacuum thermos for the best performance.
It depends on how much electricity your coffee maker uses to keep the pot warm and how long you keep the pot warm.
Keeping a pot of coffee on your brewer for longer than 1 hour will probably use more electricity than reheating it in the microwave. But you won’t be saving much electricity either way.
